  11. Windows.  The one to trust is WFTPD by [Texas Imperial Software]"

  13. Try WFTPD, by Texas Imperial Software (that's us).  A trial version
  14. (with only minor restrictions) is available from
  15. http://www.abol.com/texas/index.html .  The full version costs only $20
  16. per licence, with big discounts for large volumes.

  18. WFTPD is the only FTP server to be picked by PC Computing magazine as
  19. one of their "Internet All-Stars Best 1001 Free Downloads From The Web",
  20. and is in use at over 3000 sites (as of October 1996), with tens,
  21. perhaps hundreds, of thousands of individual users. (see the July 1996

  23. To illustrate the quality of WFTPD, I might mention that this program
  24. is in use at the following companies' premises:

  36.   (even vital) if you want your site to be mirrored using standard

  41. o activity monitor, allowing immediate disconnect of unruly users
  42. o safety shutdown - waits till users have finished before closing WFTPD

  45. o may be installed as a service under Windows NT, and will not be
  46.   automatically killed when you log out

  48. These features have been in WFTPD for many versions now, and were
  49. mostly introduced to the Windows FTP server market by WFTPD (space
  50. prevents me from listing all features available):

  66. o customisable messages on login, logout, and change of directory
  67. o all FTP responses can be customised/translated using resource editors

  69. Security features:
  70. o host/network-based acceptance/denial of login
  71. o idle/hung connection timeout
  72. o maximum user count
  73. o "read-only" operating mode
  74. o individual user rights on directories
  75. o hidden operation - can be run invisibly
  76. o author won't mention your company's name in adverts without asking
  77.   your permission (a job security feature for you)

  79. As the first standalone FTP server for Windows (and now for Windows 95
  80. and NT), WFTPD has a long history of speed and stability.  As a fast,
  81. stable FTP server, it is in place at major national and international
  82. Internet Service Providers, phone service companies, software and
  83. hardware manufacturers, tool shops, space agencies, Universities and
  84. even Realtors' offices.  The author's writing style was so admired by
  85. even his major competitors that some of them have felt compelled to
  86. cut and paste from the WFTPD documentation into theirs.

  88. Despite the author working only part time for much of this product's
  89. development, most of WFTPD's features were first offered to Windows
  90. users by WFTPD, and many are even now not offered by other FTP servers
  91. for Windows.  The author now works full time on developing and
  92. supporting WFTPD, another advantage that is not present on many other
  93. Windows FTP servers.

  97. the new version for free.  The price of the licence for WFTPD includes
